I am a native multi-generational New Mexican, born and raised in our wonderful Northern New Mexico town of Rowe, near Pecos. I attended the University of New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education, Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction and my Educational Leadership license.
I have been in the educational field for over 26 years serving as a teacher, bilingual teacher, literacy coordinator, instructional coach, bilingual programs coordinator, math interventionist, assistant principal and charter school director. I am married to Michael, another long-term educator and charter school advocate and leader, and have two children, Miquela and Andrew. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and a proud advocate of bilingual education, school choice and educational opportunities for all students.

Academic Philosophy
All children come to SABE with a culture and assets that contribute to who they are. We provide an educational environment where they can develop & grow not only academically, but physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
Our distinctive and educator developed curriculum, aligned with the Common Core State Standards in language arts, math, and the New Mexico Social Studies Standards and the Next Generation Science standards that help equip our teachers in providing a rich and robust bilingual program focused on developing our students. We strive to better our students through educational experiences both in and out of the classroom.

The Sandoval Academy of Bilingual Education (SABE) is the first Kindergarten through 8th grade dual-language charter school in the city of Rio Rancho.
Our distinctive curriculum facilitates the acquisition of Spanish and English academic language proficiency through immersion, along with core content instruction in the students’ native and target languages.
We strive to provide a quality bilingual education to produce biliterate members of our local community.
We strive to better our students through educational experiences both in and out of the classroom. We offer a variety of services designed to help students be the best version of themselves, while having a fun along the way.
STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR
At SABE, we strive for excellence in all that we do, including our expected standards of behavior. School wide, we focus on three personal standards to help develop critical thinking skills and encourage a growth mindset. Those three standards are: Solving Problems, Making Good Decisions & Showing Respect. As a positive behavior school, we want our students to be able to reflect and correct their own behavior to instill a sense of responsibility and self-control. Through our partnership with our parents, we have very few misbehaviors at SABE and continue to develop our students well being.

NM Vistas, developed by the Public Education Department, is a public data reporting website that showcases school performance based on state accountability and other required criteria from the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), as mandated by the U.S. Department of Education. The site aims to assist families and community members in identifying schools that are excelling or schools in need of additional support. These school identifications are based on a set of multiple measures informed by stakeholders representing New Mexico’s communities.
